Is Lakehurst New Jersey Corrupt or just Inept?
Here is the story.
Adan Avalos went swimming in Horicon Lake on
Sunday June 14 2015 early afternoon.
Adan was swimming strongly and suddenly said Oh God
and disappeared under the water.
I immediately looked for help and found no life guard on duty.
2 men came to my aid and dove down looking for Adan and because
the water is cedar water (brownish) couldn't find him.
These 2 men started walking toward me and tripped over
Adan's body.
We got Adan out of the water and 2 people on the beach who knew
CPR started working on him
An ambulance was called while we were still in the water and the local
ambulance didn't answer the call so MONOC was called.
MONOC was wonderful and did their best, intubating Adan and getting
his heart started and then transported him to the local hospital.
Technically Adan was alive but we found out later to no one's
surprise that he was brain dead because he was without oxygen so long.
Knowing Adan wouldn't want to live that way and was already dying
because his organs had started shutting down we decided to pull the
plug 4 days later.
Lakehurst Police were present when Adan was being worked on by CPR
techs and took my phone number and name.
After Adan passed away I went to the Lakehurst Police department to
ask about the investigation. They said it was ongoing and that
it could take several months.
Oddly no one contacted me or any one else present that day.
Then they told me that they never give out the investigation reports.
No one would talk to me at the police dept.
The town of Lakehurst never returned my inquiries.
Local papers didn't know anything about this.
Is this a cover up? Don't know. Could be that they were afraid I would
sue the town.
I feel that because there were several drownings in the area of
Horicon Lake that they didn't want the publicity.
I know why he drowned. He had a severe muscle seizure which
he had 5 years before and survived.
I just want people to know that Adan Avalos existed and was loved by
me his wife and his sisters, brothers and children.
He was only 53 years old
First I would like to say sorry for your loss. I was the man that followed you to the hospital that day. My wife and I looked every day in the news and not one thing was mentioned .It honestly seemed a Cover up or something of that nature. I have not been in that lake since that day. I have been at the beach but the memory still haunts me and cant bring myself to go in the water. I hope things are going well for you and know that at least one family knows of your loss
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. I go to that lake every once in a while to drop flowers in form the pier just beyond the beach. The first year was very difficult and I am slowly coming to terms with losing him.
ReplyDeleteI would love to communicate with people who were there.
The police finally finished their investigation but I can't bring myself to read their contrived nonsense. The things I heard at the hospital about the incident were totally wrong and I don't know where they came from.
